Yes, we are having a BOY!!! And are so excited!!

We got some very cool 3D pictures of our little man!! He looked perfect!!The kids were all very excited to see some pictures of our baby. During the ultrasound Rylan was pointing to the screen and saying Baby. It was pretty cute.

We both thought we were going to have a little boy. My guesses have been right with all of my kids, kind of crazy. It put a little pressure on me this time, to see if I would go 4 for 4! We had a slight preference for a boy so Rylan could have a little buddy! The girls both thought we should have a boy, so it will be fair!

Rylan is the only one not so sure about this whole baby thing! This was our conversation at dinner that night.

Us: Rylan do you want to have a little baby brother?

Rylan: Uh Un

Us: Do you want a baby sister?

Rylan: Uh Un

Us: Do you want to have a baby?

Rylan: Uh Un. Then he pointed to himself, Baby.

Us: Laughing. No, you are our big boy.

Rylan: Uh Un

Us: Don't you want to be our big boy?

Rylan: Stop

Us: Your baby brother is in mommy's tummy.

Rylan: Laughing while looking at my tummy.

Us: Do you want to have a little boy to play with.

Rylan: Yeah! While raising his hands.

So apparently he wants a little boy to play with, but isen't so fond of the whole baby thing. We thought it was funny that he associates himself as the baby. And for those of you thinking, Rylan talks? He sure does, he has quite the vocabulary built up. He is just a quite guy who dosen't have much to say most of the time. He can talk when he wants too!

I really can't believe that I am already half way done with my pregnancy. It really is flying by. I have been feeling really good. As normal as I feel during pregnancy. I really don't mind this part, other than the growing businness. I'm not fond of that, but what can you do?!?

Snow Day

Last week we got some snow. It was pretty exciting, especially for the kids. The rain had turned to snow when we were leaving to take Bethany to school. As we got closer to the middle of the city, it really started to pick up. I was thinking it would snow for 10 minutes and be done. Well it snowed all day and into the night. It made me a little nervous having Bethany at school, and worrying about her getting home ok, but it all worked out. After we dropped Bethany off at school Hannah and Rylan went out to play in the falling snow.

It didn't take Rylan long to figure out how fun it is to eat the snow.

When Bethany got home she got to go join in the fun.

The next morning is when they had some snow to actually play in. The girls really wanted to make a snowman. It might of taken up all the snow in the backyard, but we did it. They were pretty good helpers this year too.

Hannah just couldn't keep her tongue off of him. I guess it is kind of like a giant plan snow cone! She cracks me up.

It was fun to have some snow to play in. And the best part, it was melted by the end of the day!! It makes me not look forward to our trip to Utah where there will be snow everywhere, and it will be freezing!! The kids will enjoy it though!

So Bethany has been out of school since Monday. There last day of school was suppose to be Wednesday, but her teacher took an inservice day, so she has been home with us. It has been fun having her around more and not having to run her to school. However a little less fighting and bickering would be nice!! Since she has started school the dynamtics have sure changed in our home!! Hannah and Rylan have really bonded and Hannah gets to play the role of the big sister with Rylan. So now there are 2 big sisters in our house, and they are clashing!! It has gotten better now that it is the end of the week. They are adjusting! I just hope I can survive summer!!

Santa Claus

The kids got to see Santa at our Ward Christmas Party. The girls were so excited to sit on his lap. They were very concerned where he was going to sleep that night and they were looking all around for his sleigh when we left. They concluded that it must be on the top of the church. Silly girls.

Rylan was so tired, and wanted nothing to do with Santa. Maybe next year. This was the first year that both of the girls were really into it and were more excited than scared. It was a nice change!

Nutcracker

Me and the girls went to see the Nutcracker on Saturday. We had a good time. Bethany was glued to the show the whole time. Hannah enjoyed asking me questions about it all, since they didn't talk. They both told daddy when we got home how much they enjoyed it, and that they want to go see it again. Maybe we will make it a Christmas tradition! Bethany did say that she wanted to be IN the nutcracker next year. They will be excited to start up ballet again after Christmas!

We got to ride a bus from the parking lot to the building, that was one of their highlights!

Ready for Christmas!

We are ready for Christmas around here. We had fun setting up and decorating the tree. We also have most of our Christmas shopping done. I didn't want to stress about it last minute, like we do most years.

Most of the ornaments ended up on the bottom of the tree, but that is ok. They enjoyed themselves and wished that there were more ornaments to put on. If only taking it all down was as much fun!!

Thanksgiving weekend

We had a good Thanksgiving with my mom and Garry. We keep it pretty low key and were in pj's most of the day. After dinner we decorated our gingerbread houses. The girls enjoy having their own to decorate and Rylan got to help me with the family house. He liked to put the candy on the icy, then pull the candy off and lick off the icy and then try to stick it back on. Rylan never got out of his pj's that day.

On Saturday we went to see the lights at the gardens. We were surprised that Santa and Mrs. Claus were there waiting for us. It's nice that the girls have gotten over the fear and love to go see Santa now. Rylan wasn't so sure though.

We had a fun weekend. Thanks for coming to spend the holiday with us mom. We really enjoyed your visit.

Big Brother!!

We are excited to welcome a new baby to our family in May!! We got pregnant a month earlier than we were planning, since I ended up being pregnant during our last month of training and before our half marathon race. Luckily I didn't find out until after the race since I was a little preoccupied. I think I would of struggled a lot more if I had known. As it was I was wondering why I had to stop to go to the bathroom twice, I passed it off as my nerves. It also helped explained why my last couple long runs were tougher than they should of been.

I am finally in my second trimester so I am really hoping that I start to feel better soon, and get some energy back. As Ky says, I am sick of being sick and tired of being tired :) Hopefully that will change soon. It seems like each pregnancy gets a little worse, so it's probably good that this is it! I have had so many food adversions this time around. At the moment I can't eat hamburger, chicken or mozzerella cheese, plus a lot of other things, but those are the main ones. If anyones has any good meatless receipes I am all ears!! So I usually settle for peanut butter and honey toast for dinner. It has caused a little bit of a stir at dinner time though, because the girl's decide that they don't like dinner and they want something else too. So I had to explain that it is because there is a baby in my tummy, and it makes it hard for me to eat things. And when they have babies in their tummies than they can choose to eat other things then too. I haven't had too many cravings, or at least different cravings. It has mainly just been a fish filet sandwich from mcdonalds with extra tarter sauce, with fries and sweet and sour sauce and a diet coke. And if it is missing one of those items, it's just not good. Ky told me last time I had a fish filet that I am going to get sick of them one of these days, and I told him that I am waiting for the day! So hopefully that ends soon too.

We have already had 2 ultrasounds done due to some first trimester bleeding. Everything is perfect with the baby. It was fun to see our baby and to see the heart beating. At my last appointment we got to hear the heartbeat, which is amazing! This ultrasound was done at 8 weeks. We are eagerly awaiting our next ultrasound so we can find out what we are having!

Well anyways, enough rambling, there is our news. We are all pretty excited around here!!

Mesa Verde

Over the weekend we went up and stayed a couple nights in Durango. It was nice to just get away, and go to a new place. The kids just love staying in hotels, especially if it has a swimming pool, and breakfast. Bethany came down with croup over the weekend, so that was a little frustrating. She gets fever's with it, so by 5-6 at night she was wiped out with her fever. But she was a trooper and we all had fun. One of the reasons we went to Durango was to go to Mesa Verde. We first went and saw the Spruce Tree House dwellings.

It was about 1/2 mile hike with a 100 ft descent and ascent. That was the tough part. On the way up we stopped at the benches so the girls could rest.

Then we were feeling adventurous and bought tickets to go to the Cliff Palace. This was only a 1/4 mile hike, but there were five 8-10 ft ladders, and also a 100 ft vertical climb. I was a little nervous how the kids would do on the ladders, but they did well. Before we started the hike down, the tour guide pointed out where the last ladder was that we had to climb up. It was right behind me in the bottom picture just to the right. I should of taken a picture of it, but it was way at the top of the cliff, and from where we started it looked like it was open on one side to the cliff. So that really freaked me out, but it was just an optical allusion. It was really surrounded by the cliff on all sides. It was fun doing the tour and learning about more of the history of the ruins.

We were worried about it being freezing there. We started the day with our heavy jackets and hats on the kids, but the sun came out and really warmed it up. So we ended the day with just our long sleeve shirts. It was really nice weather that day.

We also went down to historic downtown Durango. They have a train there that we were hoping to do, but is closed 3 weeks in November. But they do a polar express train starting Thanksgiving weekend that we are going to go back up sometime to go on. They take you to the north pole to meet Santa. We were telling the girls about it, and they were so excited!

While we were walking around town, we also ran into a rocky mountain chocolate factory!! So we got some yummy chocolate!

On Sunday before we headed home, we stopped at a park to eat lunch and let the kids play. We didn't last too long, because it was pretty cold, but it was good for the kids to get some energy out before our drive.

It was a nice little getaway, but after just a couple days, it so funny how much you enjoy being home again. To have everyone sleeping in their own beds!!
