The 4th of July was a partly dreaded day for me. The girls dance class got to participate in the Kaysville parade. They were super excited to get to be in a parade, so we decided to support them with it. I was not looking forward to getting them where they needed to be, then finding a place for us to sit and enjoy the parade while we burned up in the 100 degree weather. It ended up being worse than I imagined in my head.
It started with not being able to find where to drop them off with their dance class. We thought it was at a lds chapel next to the area, but they were really in a parking lot near the start of the parade. So I ended up walking the girls over from the church to where they needed to be. I told Kyle to come pick me up, since I didn't want to have to walk all the way back. He couldn't drive down the road I thought he was going to go on, but I decided to start walking back and trying to meet up with him back over by the church. Of course he left his cell phone at home (why do we have two phones?) so we couldn't call each other. He ended up making it over to the other side where the girls were, but didn't see me. So he ended up parking and walking back towards the church with the three little kids and stopped at the information booth. I could see them, but had to walk all the way around the fence to get to them. I tried calling to them, and Rylan ended up hearing and seeing me but Kyle didn't realize that. So then they start walking back towards where the girls were, so I ended up having to run to catch up with them. By the time I got to them me and the boys were in tears. It was such a frustrating thing, and Rylan was scared he would never see me again.
After that craziness, we found a place to sit and watch the parade. We were able to have the kids got out in the street so they could get candy. We were squeezed between a bunch of teenagers that were not being very nice and kept taking all the candy before the boys could get it. But they still go enough.
They girls were at the end of the parade, but it was super fun to see them and see how excited they were! They had a lot of fun and that's what really matters!
I told them to enjoy the parade, because we probably won't do it again. They did enjoy it, and now they are in the older class that gets to actually dance through the parade instead of just riding on the float. So of course they want to do it again next year, and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to say no. Hopefully we have a better experience next time!
I did all 3 girls hair in these cute star shape. But I had sprayed their hair with sunscreen so they wouldn't get burned. The elastic had some kind of reaction to some chemical in the sunscreen and made a bunch of them burst. So they started to come out, but it was cute while it lasted.
Their fireworks on their cheeks!
We ended up missing Kyle's family get together because the parade took long than we though, which we felt bad about. Later that evening my mom and adam and the kids came over for a bbq.
They had fun jumping on the trampoline and bouncing da.
These two are so cute together. Bryleigh talks about sammie all the time.
All the kiddos ready to get wet and cool off!
They played with the sprinkler and the slip n slide.
Then we got the little pool out for the little ones.
The day ended up ok after all! Hopefully we will be better prepared next 4th of July!
