fire station open house

As part of Bethany's fire corp program, she was asked to volunteer at the fire department open house. Of course she was excited to do this and had a good time. Dallen had a soccer game at the same time, and Ky was out of town.  So we went and explored before Bethany's shift started.  Then we left her there to do her stuff while I ran Dallen over to his game.  Then we went back to pick her up.  It felt so weird to leave her there by herself, but I guess that's part of growing up. She was fine and had fun with her friends. 

When we got back to pick Bethany up the kids talked me into standing in the long line to have a ride in the fire truck. I'm glad they convinced me, because it was pretty fun!

We got to go on a ride around the block.  They even turned the siren on for us. It was a fun night!

firecorps

Bethany is loving being in the fire corp.  A group of twelve 6th graders from their school got selected to participate in this program. They get to teach fire safety to preschool and kindergarten age kids. They have a little skit that they have learned and they teach them by performing the skit.  They have two casts.  Cast A and cast B, which is fun so they get to learn different parts. In cast A she got the female lead which is Phoebe Fire.  She is the village in the skit and tries to convince the kids to do unsafe things with fire. She has fun playing the role! In cast B she is a sibling, microwave, hairdryer and few other things. She does a great job and it has been fun watching her grow and learn through this experience.

There first performance was for the kindergartners at their school, so Bethany got to perform for Dallen.  She was excited about that. They perform two times a month at other schools around Layton. At the end of the year Bethany will receive a certificate for her volunteer hours and a letter that she can use later for scholarships. It's a neat program!

frightmares

We were excited to go to frightmares this year. We found some super fun things to do.  It was nice to have a few new thing to do at lagoon. They had this straw maze for the kids were you go through and kind of trick or treat.  They love it!

We did the haunted house that was outside by pioneer village.  I would do it while it was light out, but once it's dark there is no way I would go in there. I think I was the only one that screamed in it!

We were able to take the little two on the swings! Dallen was very excited and a little nervous. Normally you have to be 46 inches even to sit in the double swings. But while we were walking by I heard the current ride operator tell another family that if they are under that height it is fine as long as they are in the double swing.  So we turned around and jumped in line.  This operator was breaking the rule, but we were glad for it! We went on it twice, and Dallen and Bryleigh both loved it!  They will be ready for our next trip to disneyland! 

Dallen was bummed the next time we tried and they said he was too short. 

The kids loved these costume boards and wanted their picture taken in all of them.

Ky took everyone but me and Bryleigh into the funhouse of fear. I went in it a few years ago when Ky and I went to frightmares on a date, and I really didn't like it. But they wanted to try it out, and I think they mostly liked it.  They wanted to go again anyways.

Hannah was so excited to have her friend Lexi join us one night at lagoon.  They have so much fun together!

p12 september

Bryleigh was super excited to start preschool.  It is good for her to have some other interactions than just mommy! The first day we had a meeting/playdate at the park.  She was excited to meet her new classmates and to play.  She was so cute and picked out her "school shirt" to wear. It took me a minute to understand why that was her school shirt, but that is what the older kids wear to school.  White and blue collared shirts. It was the cutest thing ever! There is only one other girl in her class, Mayer and they are the cutest little buddies!

Hannah started a tumbling class in September.  She is loving it and is enjoying learning and perfecting her skills.  She is getting so close to getting her back handspring. It was fun watching her this last week, and her coaches kept saying, wow your doing good, your so close. Now if we can get her to stop doing cartwheels everywhere else!!  But I guess that is why she is so good, since she is always on her hands doing something! 

These two got to go to the airport with me to pick up Da.  She flew home from Amber's on her birthday. So we had her over for dinner and cake before she headed home. We missed her and was glad she made it back. 

Bryleigh was being a stinker that day and decided to color on herself with marker. She lost her marker privileges after that!

Once a month I let Dallen but school lunch.  He was disappointed that he wasn't going to get to eat lunch and school and pick out lunch to buy like the older kids. He loves picking out his lunch for the month, and Bryleigh gets to buy lunch with him. We usually got to the girls lunch, since it is after Dallen gets out of school.  On normal days Rylan has lunch at 10:50, so Dallen is still in class. If he picks a Friday lunch, then we go with Rylan. It's fun to see the kids at school with their peers. 

Rylan is a little fisherman like his Grandpa Mike! {they do share a name!} He made this stick with a string on the end and was pretending to cast and fish off his slide. It was the cutest thing! During the summer when we went fishing with my dad, Rylan loved it and spend a lot of the afternoon fishing off the shores, while the other kids were swimming.  We need to take him fishing more!

Rylan was excited to be 7 1/2!  His next birthday is the big 8, he is excited about that one too!

He had a fun day and loved feeling a little extra special for a day!  

That's why we celebrate these half birthdays, having five kids they need an extra special day that is all about them!

Rylan is such a nice and caring young man.  He is growing so fast, and I love who he is growing up to be.  He has the biggest heart and loves to give me hugs and tell me how much he loves me.  He can pick up on peoples moods and knows when someone is sad.  He is good about giving them hugs and helping them feel better. 

He has become such an awesome student at school! Last year was a huge learning experience for him, having been the 1st year that he was actually at school.  This year all his teachers love him and he has made some fun friends.  He is reading so good and is such a good student. He strives to get on blue or purple, the highest they can achieve for good behavior every day. He graduated from speech therapy, and all his teachers praised him for being such a great kid! 

His favorite foods are pasta and rice.

He loves the color's red and green.

He loves to create things with anything he can find, especially paper.

He loves legos and knex and building with them.

We are so proud of you Rylan and for the good kid you are.  We love you and our family wouldn't be the same without you!!

And of course Hannah too. She really wasn't super happy about soccer season. She had to tag along with us and sat through way too many soccer games for her liking.

This little boy was such a stinker this day!  He had a later game, maybe 12:00, so he was hungry when it was time to start his game.  So he threw a fit and wouldn't go into the game when his coach wanted to put him in.  Da had come to watch him play soccer and she was going to stay and watch while I took Bethany to her game.  He was in mommy mode and wouldn't let go of me.  So Da took Bethany and didn't get to watch Dallen play at all. He finally went in and played the 2nd half of the game. I should of given him lunch before his game but really didn't think about it until it was too late.
