Halloween and fires

We started our Halloween with the girls soccer game. The players could wear their costumes to the game. The girls went back and forth for about an hour, I want to wear this, no that, and in the end neither of the girls wore a costume. But Rylan wanted to dress up. So he wore his train outfit sporting his red superman cape. He also cried wanted to wear his fireman hat on top, but we didn't let him since that was for tonight. And I have to mention that Bethany is a super soccer player now...she has scored 2 goals each of the last 3 games. It's like something just clicked with her. Hannah has attempted to kick the ball a couple times...so that is progress. But we are still working on her!

This year Bethany chose to be a fairy, Hannah a doctor, Rylan a fireman, and Dallen was a blue bear.

We went to our ward Halloween carnival and trunk or treat. The kids got to do some fun games.

Right after we got there the fire alarm went off. No big deal...unless your Bethany. I didn't think it would bother her since they do fire drill's at school. But she could sense that it wasn't a planned thing. She got a little scared and wanted to go home. She finally got over it and had fun trunk or treating.

Rylan loved his candy! He kept eating and eating. The girls are good about asking, but he could care less. I don't usually mind too much, but he hadn't had dinner yet. We had a successful Halloween. The kids had fun getting and eating candy and getting all dressed up.

We always have the kids pick out 15 pieces of candy and get rid of the rest. It is so funny to see the candy they pick. They have the "good" candy bars, but instead they pick the weird little candies. Don't tell them, but I usually switch out the weird stuff for the good stuff for them. Is that mean? They just don't know what's good yet!

I decided that Halloween isn't very fun when your not eating sweets. It puts quite the damper on it I suppose. I did get my hot coco though! It almost made up for all the chocolate bars sitting downstairs!

I think my boys are just now recognizing each other. Look at Dallen looking at Rylan, and then he decides he want to play with Rylan's truck too. Rylan was too thrilled to finally be able to play and share his toys with his baby brother. This makes me so excited for the coming months when they will get to interact and play with each other! Yay for brothers!!So....look at Bethany's face. She was not happy. She remember the whole fire alarm thing once we got home and was going around look all sad. I finally got her to tell me what was wrong, and she was scared there was going to be a fire in our home. I was trying to ask her what scared her...and she wouldn't really tell me. I started asking, are you scared that we won't be able to get out? And she told me "No, I worried about my care bear blanket and purple spots." These are the 2 things that she has slept with since she was 1. I had to try not to laugh, because she was really upset. I told her we could grab them if there was a fire, and if not we could buy her some new ones. She was ok then. But then she says..."Mom I didn't know we could get stuck in the fire's." I thought oh great...I just made it worse.

Then she went and asked Ky if they ever had a fire in their house growing up...and him be oblivious to all this fire stuff went on to tell her how they had a fire in their kitchen. Well that really scared her and upset her all over again. My sensitive little girl! She told me "I feel like I'm going to cry and I don't know why." She is such a girl!! :)

We tried to talk and comfort her some more. Ky went on to tell her what they did to make the fire go out....and then she thought her daddy was superman for fixing the fire! So she feel better that he is here to help us. She wanted to know what we do if a person catches fire. So this week we get to have a FHE on fire safety. Hopefully that will help her feel more calm about it all. So wow...what a night!

Snow??

It snowed this last week and surprised us all. It was in the forecast, but I usually figure that the mountains and the east side of town will get the snow and we will get the rain. But this time we actually got the snow that was forecasted. When it started there was barely any snow coming down at all...and the kids were asking to go out and play in it. I asked them what are you going to do outside, there isn't any snow to "play" with. Bethany informed me that she wanted to catch snow on her tongue. And since we don't get much snow, we have to take advantage of the little we do get. So off they went.

Hannah enjoyed running around in circles in the snowflakes. If we could just get her to run like that at soccer :)

Rylan was a little unsure of the wet stuff falling from the sky. But once he saw the girls having fun...he joined in the fun. Once the snow picked up a little and started sticking, they were trying to find any ounce of snow that they could pick up and put in their mouth. They scrapped it off of everything.

Bethany was even able to make a snowball. Doesn't she look like this is the best thing ever! She wanted to make a snowman after she got her snowball....but there wasn't quite enough snow for that.

Rylan had fun eating the snow and trying to catch it on his tongue.

The crew before we came in to warm up. All of their hands got cold first. Rylan was quite upset that his hands hurt and kept telling me that he didn't have fun in the snow. Look at their rosy checks..they must of been freezing!

Thanks for coming to visit snow...hopefully we will see you again this season. The kids sure would love to play in you again!

October 27th

Every year I never know if I should look forward to this day, or dread this day. Birthdays are funny days. I want to be treated special and have it be my day, but still have it be no big deal. Makes a lot of sense huh! It doesn't help that the way I celebrated birthdays and the way Ky celebrated birthdays growing up are totally different. But I would say that this birthday was probably my best ever.

And why wouldn't it be when I got to spend the day with these 4 little people...........

And this awesome guy, who surprised me by taking the day off from work. Probably the best gift he could of given me! When the girls came in my room in the morning, they were so excited to wish me a happy birthday. They had also been counting down the days till my birthday. They continued to wish me a happy birthday all day! It was sweet.

And so was this......

My chocolate fudge peanut butter cup cake. It. Was. Delicious! And it tasted even betterbecause my awesome man made it for me, all I had to do was enjoy!

Dallen liked seeing the candles. The girls were very concerned that there were not enough candles. But we did use all that we had...I guess that means your getting old when you need more than just 1 package of candles!

Doesn't that just look so tasty! Just looking at it has got me wanting more. It was super rich though..I couldn't finish my piece. I tried and tried...but couldn't do it. We sent the rest to Ky's work the next day, or else I would of attempted to finish another piece.


I had a fabulous day with my wonderful family. I got breakfast in bed, and then got to continue to sleep in. We went down to the river and took some pictures of the kids. One of my favorite things to do. I got some new plates that I had been wanting. And the kids each picked out a little something for me. Everyone was very thoughtful.

Thank you guys for making me feel so extra special on my day. Got to love them!!

haunted houses

It's not enough to decorate houses only once a year, so we like to do it for Halloween too. The kids had a blast decorating their haunted houses. The girls love having their own frosting and candy to do with what they like. I don't know if more candy went on the houses, or in their mouths!

Rylan had to lick all of his candy before he put them on his house. I guess he wanted to mark his territory!

Dallen helped daddy with his, and he had frosting all over him by the time they were done. He really enjoys grabbing things!

Cereal

Dallen got his first taste of real food, (if you want to call it that) this past week. He got some yummy rice cereal. And he actually kind of sorta liked it. At least more than my other kids have. He has been watching us eat for quite some time now, so I knew he was wanting some food of his own.

He had a couple interesting faces, trying to figure out what to do with the food in his mouth.
And some came back out of course.

It was such hard work that he had to take a break and suck his thumb. Love it!!

And he ended all smiles. The next night when we didn't give him any he was looking around wondering where his was. So now I guess he expects it. Oh and Rylan got mad that Dallen was wearing the spiderman bib, he wanted it. So he went and found another one. He hasn't worn bibs since he was about 1, he used to hate them.

Balloon Time

Friday morning we decided to go watch the balloons from our car. Since we were sick we didn't make it quite to the park. But we did park just outside and still go a pretty good view.

It always amazes me at how many balloons are up in the sky.
The kids got to sit on the van to watch. Don't they all just look so alive!!
The balloon's flying over us scared Rylan with the fire, so he went and hung out inside the van the rest of the time.

And we wouldn't want to leave out Dallen, who was oblivious to the balloons.

On Saturday during our little window of feeling good we did head down to the balloon fiesta field to watch the balloon glow. We had fun watching all the balloons go up. These two were next to were we were sitting.

About 5 minutes after they were up, they all had to go down because of wind. So it was a little disappointing, but at least we got to see them briefly.

The girls really enjoyed the fireworks show at the end. It put Rylan to sleep and woke Dallen up. And we even made it back to our car without getting lost, I think that is the first time ever! Kind of sad!
