Nursery Bliss

Rylan is offically in nursery! Yay! Not that it really mattered to me, Ky usually gets him during church, since I am in primary. But when Ky had stuff he needed to get done with his calling during church I would have a turn. I took Rylan to nursery last week and stayed in there with him to get him used to it. And this week, he went in a played and didn't cry...at least until the very end when he started crying because other kids were crying, but that dosen't really count :) He was very anxious to go, he would get mad when Ky would drop off Hannah at nursery and when he didn't get to stay. And I think it helps a lot that Hannah is in there with him. When I checked on him, he was usually right by Hannah, his little comfort zone. So that was cute. But yay for Rylan and hopefully he keeps it up!!

I was going to take a picture of him before church, but it didn't happen...maybe next week.

Busy, Busy!!

Sometimes I am surprised at how busy we are now, with Bethany in school, and getting her home school hours in, and running Hannah to and from joy school. Ky usually picks Bethany up from school on his way home from work, which as been a huge help. Well, he just got a new manager who told him that he is suppose to be there during the core hours of 9-3. He can add his time before or after that. Since he was getting off at 2:00 to go pick up Bethany, it looks like he is going to have to change his hours and won't be able to pick up Bethany anymore. He talked to his manager about the situation, since Ky got his hours approved by his last manager and that is why we chose the late morning class, and now we are stuck and can't change Bethany into a new class. His manager is doing his best, but since it is a policy I think we are doomed. His manager is dragging his feet in the process to let Ky continue this schedule for a little longer. So that will just add to my crazy days, along with Ky going out of town for 2-3 nights every week or every other week!

Thanks goodness we have Fridays off so we have a long weekend to recover!! I didn't realize how much I enjoyed having complete control over my days. It is a good change though, and just part of growing up for the kids and for me!

For one of Bethany's homework assignments she had to go on a nature hike and draw and label some pictures of insects in their natural habitat. So we took a trip to the Nature Center. The kids had a good time on our walk. The little artist at work. She chose to observe some bees, they were everywhere around these certain flowers! Luckily no one got stung!

The girls love going to their P.E. class at the university. It is a free class that is taught by the students there that are majoring in Physical Education. I debated whether or not to take them, but did and they have a blast.

They divide up into groups by their ages. Last week they switched teachers and they were excited to have new teachers. Bethany's group only has 3 kids, and the other girl goes to school with her. Hannah's group usually as around 10 kids, but she has fun!!

Last week at the end of class they all got together and got to play with a parachute. I think it was their favorite part! Class got out about 15 minutes late, and we barely made it to Bethany's school in time.

Rylan is too young to be in a class, so he has fun running around with different balls that he finds laying around from the different groups. He's a good sport!!

Our week with Grandpa!!

My dad came to visit this last week. We had such a great time with him! The kids couldn't get enough of him. Even when he would be showering, they would be right outside the door knocking and trying to talk to him. I had to remind them to give him a little privacy!! Even Grandpa needs a little time alone! Hannah choose to stay home from joyschool to spend time with Grandpa, so I decided I should probably give Bethany the same choice. She first wanted to stay home from school, then the next day she had quite the dilemma because she wanted to go to school and stay home with Grandpa. So I told her she could do both, she could play with Grandpa before and after school. So that is what she did. We waited until she was out of school, and then we went to the aquarium and gardens.

If you haven't noticed by now, I enjoy retelling our life through pictures. So yes, there are a lot of pictures again, and it will probably continue with future posts. I enjoy pictures more than words!!

On Friday we went to the fair. We were there all day, from about 10:30 till 7:30, and the kids still weren't ready to go!! One of the first things we did was the pee wee rodeo. The girls got cowgirl hats and a wooden horse to ride. They had them all parade into the rodeo area on their horses, and then they had the different age groups do different events.

Hannah got to do half roping, (I think that's what it is called). They got to push the cow over. She was a little intimidated by all the people, but she did it!!

Bethany got to do barrel racing. I think she had the slowest time, but mostly because she went the wrong way. I'm proud of both the girls for doing it, since they both can be pretty shy, and there were a ton of people watching, I would of been scared!! They got blue ribbons for participating in the rodeo.
Then we headed over to Old McDonald's farm. You get to go around and pick different fruit and vegetables and ride some tractors. It is one of the kids favorite things at the fair. Plus, when you are all done they give you a Popsicle!

We got to do some roping. I learned a few things about roping for the short time I was at Ricks. (I still call it that, because that was the name when I was there). Half of my roommates were "real" cowgirls and they taught me out to rope a cow. They also had a miniature cow and rope that they had in our apartment that someone was always playing with.

After the farm the girls had to have pony rides. Last year we let them ride the ponies, and they remember it, and got so excited to ride the ponies when we told them we were going to the fair.

They had fun feeding the goats. Last year the goats were just wandering around this area. Half way through the girls got scared, because they started coming up to them and trying to get the food out of the little cups. So it was nice when they had a gate up to separate us and the animals. It helped the kids enjoy themselves a little more.

Then the kids really got spoiled and got to do the rides. We don't usually do them, but it was a special treat since Grandpa was with us. I will have to remind them of that next year too, when they insist on the rides. Or maybe Grandpa will have to come back!!

Rylan wasn't quite big enough to do most of the rides. And after he got to ride the carousel, he got a little upset when his sisters got to do more rides and he didn't. So Grandpa took him and they played a fishing game and won him a ball to play with. It made him happy for a little while!

And I included this picture to show the sky. We got a little rain out of that, but it wasn't too bad, just mostly sprinkles.

On Saturday, my dad watched the kids for us while we went to the temple. It was a nice break to get to go. The kids enjoyed having Grandpa to themselves for a couple hours!

After lunch, we went to the Peterglyphs. We went on 3 of the shorter hikes. The kids did really well, I think Hannah walked the whole time which is amazing! She usually will decide she is done and want to be carried. We had fun looking for drawings on the rocks. The rocks also have air bubbles in them, and that was what the girls kept finding and pointing out.
Once we got to the top of one of the hikes, the girls wanted to stop and take a break. So that is what we did. We let daddy go up to the very top while they had a rest.


Sunday, I wanted to get some pictures of my dad with the kids. I thought this one turned out cute of Rylan and my dad. Rylan's middle name is Michael, which is my dad's name. So it is always fun for me to see Rylan with my dad, the one he is named after!!

We had a great time with Grandpa and we were sad to see him go. Thanks for coming to visit dad, we miss you already!!

Camping Fun

Last weekend we went camping with some good friends. After we got up there and got camp set up, we went down to "look" at the river. Before we knew it the kids wanted to get in the water. So I rolled up their pants and told them to be careful and to not get their pants wet. Yeah right, before long, they were soaked, so we just let them get as wet as they wanted. I am kind of a neat freak, so it was hard to let them get wet and dirty. Especially when we were camping and I couldn't go put them in the bathtub and their clothes in the washing machine. But I'm glad I toughed it out, because the girls had so much fun!!

Before we told them to get in, we did take their shirts off. I know, it's not so modest for the girls, but what do you do when you didn't bring a swim suit!!

And of course, the boys couldn't resist getting in the water too. There just big kids, right!

Then they thought it would be fun to try jumping in. And by the smile's on their faces, I'm sure it was a blast!

Hannah done swimming because she is cold. It is the middle of September, which is why we didn't think to bring swimsuits. I thought they would of gotten cold a lot sooner than they did!

Rylan just sat on the shore and threw rocks into the water. It was a good choice, one less messy kid!

A picture of the kiddo's outside our tent. On our last camping trip a couple months ago, the kids all slept really good. Hannah and Rylan were up once, but that was it. So I was anticipating the same thing. Rylan was up 3-4 times, I think he was cold. One of the times he would not stop crying, I don't think he was quite awake. I ended up having to take him into the car, and he fell asleep right away. I waited a little, and then went back to the tent. It was a rough night though. But as I was told, that isn't why you go camping!! And that is for sure!

We ended our night with some yummy smores. That is definitely one of my favorite things about camping!

The next day, before we headed home we drove up the mountain a little to go on this little hike to the waterfall.

We had such a great time, and are glad we got one last camping trip in before fall. On our drive home, all of our kids fell asleep. I slept most of the way too. More Ky had to drive home without any company, and he was pretty tired himself. He got to turn a football game on to occupy himself, so I guess he's not too deprived!!
