rylan's 12 year old overnight temple date 4.19

When the kids turn 12 we take them on an overnight temple date. They get to pick what temple they want to go to that's within an hour or so. We get to spend some one on one time with them which is so fun. Rylan picked to go to the Jordan River Temple, which has the same layout as the Seattle temple. After the temple, we went back to the hotel and played games and swam. The next day he picked to eat lunch at Chuck a Rama. Not my favorite place, but I toughed it out for him! We had such a great time!

hannah dr. appointments 3.19

After about a year of not knowing what was wrong with Hannah's hips and working with a physical therapist, we finally came to the conclusion that it was time to get her checked out further because she was not improving anymore. For a little bit, physical therapy helped and she was able to perform her normal activities. Then she started regressing a lot and had a hard time even walking.

We started with her pediatrician and she gave us a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. The orthopedic surgeon was the top surgeon but had some interesting social skills. She examined Hannah and agreed very quickly that something was wrong with her hip. She did not have full motion in both of her hips, but specifically her left hip. She thought that it may be a bone spur that was preventing her range of motion. She had her do an x-ray to see if that could be it and that was negative. So she sent us to go get some imagining done. We started with a mri of her hip, where the radiologist thought she had a bone fracture. The orthopedic surgeon did not think that was what was going on, so she sent us to get a ct scan to see if we could get a better picture.

They still need more information so they then sent us to do an mri with contrast, which was quite an adventure. Hannah does not do well with needles and she does not have very good veins. They are little and they roll and hide away from the needle. So getting the iv in for the ultrasound was rough. They finally got it in but she did not feel very well. She ended up throwing up a little and then they had her rest for a min before they started the scan. Then they do the scan, take her out and put the stuff in the iv and do the scan again. It took around 3 hours for this to all get done which was pretty miserable for her. It is hard to have to lay still that long and her body was hurting. They did have some fancy goggle's and she was able to watch a movie, but still, it was too long!

I was able to stay in the room until they were finished getting her all set up. The worst part for me was seeing them put her head in a box, I did not like that at all!! Afterwards she was still not feeling very well and went home and rested.

At some point, the orthopedic surgeon was not happy with the radiologist report from one of the scans, they were saying that she had a break in her hip. She was a great dr. and took time talking to colleagues and getting more information to help Hannah. From the mri we learned that they did not think it was a bone tumor, but a chronic infection like CRMO. We did more testing, blood work and x-rays.

Our next referral was to a rheumatologist, who specializes in helping treat this autoimmune disease.

Dallen playing junior jazz basketball. He is a feisty little player who is used to playing against Rylan, so these kids don't scare him! He's a good shooter!

Rylan also played junior jazz basketball and he is a good player too! He had fun playing with some of his friends on the team this year.

Bethany played on the northridge highschool softball team. She mostly played 2nd base on the jv team and also got to play some right field for varsity. She is a good little player and always hustles and tries her best!

Her team did a tournament down in St. George. The team all stayed at an airbnb together and we went down and stayed in a hotel so we could watch her play. We did a little bit of sightseeing in between her games.
