Captain Rylan's party

Rylan decided to have a pirate party this year.  It was a lot of fun!
Rylan all ready for his party.  His birthday shirt I made for him.  I have been making them shirts for the last couple of year.  I wasn't planning on making them this year, thinking they were kind of over it, but when Hannah's birthday came around they were all asking about them.  So they are still getting birthday shirts.  I'm glad that they like them!
All the treats!

One of our games, walk the plank.  They had to carry coins on a spoon from one end to the other.
Pin the flag on the treasure.

Playing pass the skull, like hot potato.
The party crew.  Everyone look at Rylan!

The pirate cake.  This really was suppose to be a easy cake to make, and it should of if I had had better directions.  How I made it the front of the cake kept falling off.  There were about 10 bamboo sticks in the front when I was done with it.  I'm just glad it stayed together well enough until it was time to eat it.  Rylan liked it!

We had a scavenger hunt to find the treasure.
And ended the party with our pirate ship pinata.
It was all a lot of fun, and Rylan was so excited and happy!

family pictures

We took some family pictures at the beginning of March.  We needed some new pictures of Hannah for her baptism.  We headed down to Salt Lake to the Gateway.  Hannah also had a gift certificate that she used at build a bear.  So we got two things done at once.  It was a little chilly which we weren't happy about, but we still got a few good ones.  It's strange with moving to a new place, and not having my "regular" shooting pictures places.  I feel like I am adjusted to living in Utah, until things like this pop up, or a new season comes around and we can't go to our usual places.  It definitely is a process, that keeps going!
Bethany 9 1/2 years old.  She only had a few pictures, because she actually sits down and looks at the camera now.  I don't need 100 shots of her to get a good one!

Bryleigh 21 months.  She was grumpy and was not going to look or smile for the camera.  Sometimes she will be so into getting her picture taken, but not today.
I love her grumpy face.  She totally wanted me to leave her alone!!

Dallen 3 3/4.  This kid is so funny!!  He has a personality of his own.  He surely needs 100 shots to get a good smiling one, but I almost like his non smiles better!! It just makes me laugh!  He is such a nut, and he loves making us all laugh!!

Kyle and I got in on the fun.  Bethany was our photographer!  I sure love that man!

Hannah 8 years old.  She is such a little poser! She would tell you that she loves how her hair is a little bit curly at the ends.  She loves it when her hair does that!
She got way too many pictures, because I wanted to make sure we had a good one for the baptism.

My cute kids.  I think we were bribing them with candy by now!
Rylan almost 6. My little ball of energy, that never runs out!

Love them!!

Hannah's 8!!

Hannah is such an awesome kid!  She is so loving and caring and likes to help others.  She also has a little spark in her and can be quit feisty sometimes.  She is a great big sister and little sister and plays those roles well.  She can be such a little helper around the house.  She will go on a cleaning spree and will clean up the whole house without being asked.  She is my picky eater, and it takes a lot of convincing for her to try something new, or deciding that she actually likes something new.  She thinks she doesn't like to read, but she really enjoys reading books and picking new ones out at the library. Some of her favorites that she has found all on her own of course, are the jewel kingdom, and the candy apple books. She has a mind of her own and likes to pick out her own things, and rarely takes my suggestions.  Which is a good thing that she is not afraid to try what she wants.  I really admire that in her. She is such a friendly person, and can make friends so easily and so fast.  One time I helped in her classroom at school.  It was with the all of the second graders.  The kids rotating through would ask me who's mom I was, and when I said Hannah, most of them all knew who she was, and would comment on how nice she was.  That didn't surprise me at all. She can be a little shy and timid at first or if she feels uncomfortable, but once she gets over that she is so the opposite. She can be very independent and enjoys doing her own hair.  She will not very often let me do fun things with it, but she wants to do it.
Hannah's favorite color is still pink and turquoise.
Her favorite candy bar is a butterfinger.
She loves gymnastics, dancing and singing.
She loves to swim, rollerblade and jump on the trampoline.
She loves to listen to music and dance around the house.
Her favorite music artist is Taylor Swift and can sing along with a lot of her songs.
She is my little fashionist   She loves clothes and putting together outfits.  She also likes to help pick out Bethany's and Bryleigh's clothes too.
She is very energetic.
Her favorite cake is chocolate and lemon.
Her favorite food is crepes.
She is not very interested in sports, although I think she would be great at them.  She is very athletic.  She had a bad experience with soccer when she was 4, and has not recovered.  She likes to play sports for fun, but not on a actual team.
Hannah had a fun birthday day.  I loved being able to spend all day with her and not have to send her to school!  She wanted french toast for breakfast and a green smoothie. These were amazing egg free french toast.  We have not been able to find a good french toast recipe that tasted good ever without eggs, so this was exciting for us to find one that works and taste so yummy!!
Her snack she chose to "bring to school" were graham crackers with peanut butter and chocolate chips.  Yummy!

She was so excited for her presents and was looking forward to this specific present.  Rollerblades.  Now the girls can roller blade together!
Her ballerina cake that we saved for her birthday.  The top layer was lemon and the bottom was chocolate.  The kids enjoyed a piece of each.
Blowing out her candles!

Her other present she was also so excited about, but also a little nervous.  When they turn eight they get to get their ears pierced.  Bethany's ears had a hard time and they seemed to continually get infected.  Hannah was convinced that she was never going to get hers pierced.  But I guess she had a change of heart.  She was excited and so brave.  She picked a stud in the color of her birthstone, so a light blue.
She was doing fine until the lady pulled out the ear gun.  She got a little worried and nervous.  You can see it in her face, how intense she looks.
The lady had Hannah count to 3, then she would pierce her ear.  She chose to do the ears separately so she got to count twice.
She did a great job.  It hurt her a little, but she didn't even cry.  She got a hurting look on her face, but that was it.  And her ears have been perfect.  They reacted very well to the earrings  and she has had no infections.  I think she is happy with that!  Only another week and she gets to change her earrings   She is going to love that!
Then we ended our day with swimming.  It was so fun to play in the water.
Happy 8th birthday Hannah!!  I can't believe you are becoming so grown up and are really old enjoy to get baptized!!!

Hannah's gymnastics party

My sweet Hannah turned 8!!  It's such a magical number at our house! She was so excited for her gymnastic birthday party with her friends.

Her treat table.  I'm told I am quit the party planner, but I just like to have fun and make it fun!  They enjoyed all the goodies.
Her fun cake.  I let Hannah look at some different cakes with me online, and this is the one she picked.  It was fun to make, although I was worried about it not turning out.

Practicing her gymnastics before her party.  She wanted me to take pictures of her.  She is such a good gymnast. It seems like she is alway either doing cartwheels and handstands, all the time.  It was so hard for her not to be able to when she broke her finger.

Her backbend, and posing with her best friend and enemy so I guess their frenemies.

We did some balance beam games.  You had to do different walks across the balance beam, and then you had to balance a book on your head, then we added an umbrella to carry.

We played hot medal, like hot potato and played the telephone game.
Pin the medal on the gymnast.
 Her pinata!

And of course cake.  She had such a fun time, which makes me happy!
Happy birthday Hannah!!
